Diefenbunker/Carp Tour
This once-secret bunker was built to protect government continuity in the event of nuclear war. It’s a fascinating building that was operated by the Department of National Defence from 1959 to 1994, when it was designated a National Historic Site of Canada. The mostly flat route to the bunker will follow the Ottawa River, dissect the high-tech heart of the city, pass through rolling farm country, and arrive in scenic Carp with a tour of the bunker that you’ll never forget.

- You appreciate history, farm country, and are physically fit
- You’re comfortable riding on the road (half the ride is on bike paths and the majority of the ride on the road has a paved shoulder)
- You can ride a bike 75 km at a decent pace and are able to ascend/descend mild hills
